There is a certain allure to Destination Weddings. From exotic locations to far away places, for some the destination wedding is a perfect option and what I'm inspired by this week.

Of course you need a dress that is ready for travel

Most important of all make sure to take care of your guest with a lovely welcome bag filled with items perfect for your destination

in addition to a welcome bag also include a list of who's who so guest can get to know each other.

If you are in the DIY spirit try these directions for making your own welcome bags.

While the guest list may be smaller, that shouldn't stop you from infusing your creativity and personality into your special day. Plus, a lovely location has a way of inspiring wonderful and out of the box ideas.

In The Details: Baby's Breath

>> Monday, January 25, 2010

I remember when everyone was telling Brides that a chic yet inexpensive way to save on your floral budget is with Baby's Breath. While this flower option never went out of style, new and fabulous trends came on the scene. Well, I can't help but notice that baby's breath is showing up in a lot of weddings in new and stylish ways. While some may think baby's breath is resided to be used for filler, they would definitely be missing out on its fabulousness. I know, I know, you need some pictures so here they are...

Baby's Breath would be perfect for bridal or bridesmaid bouquets.

A lovely and unexpected decor detail at your ceremony

a Sophisticated yet playful option for reception decor.

Baby's breath has always been one of those details I love seeing at weddings. Hopefully these few photos can give you some inspiration for your own wedding planning. Until tomorrow.

Usually when you hear the words monogram and wedding together it's natural to expect a traditional themed wedding. But who says that the use of a monogram limits your theme? Exactly. No one. Looking for ways to showcase your monogram while keeping it creative. Here's a mix of lovely inspiration for how to make this ever popular detail all your own.

We all know the first place to showcase a monogram is on the cake

or the wedding stationery.

In The Details: Sweet Talk

>> Monday, November 2, 2009

While the wedding is all about the dress. The reception is all about sweets. Recently there have been plenty of trends from candy bars to dessert tables filled with every confection imaginable. Being a girl who loves all things sweet, I can't resist a table full of sweet treats. Of course I also need a good DJ to dance off those sweets as well ;)

Whether you are attending a wedding or planning your own, be inspired by one of my most favorite wedding details... the dessert table.

You can also create a dessert table that fits a theme like colors or the types of desserts that are featured.

As with all wedding details make them about you and your wedding, but if you're thinking about having a dessert table may these images be inspiration.

In The Details: Add a Little Color

>> Monday, October 19, 2009

Since we're all about showcasing individual style on the PLT blog, it was only a matter of time before I step out and challenge it a bit. What's your thought on casting tradition aside and having a Bride wear a wedding gown in a color that isn't bone, cream, ivory or white but pink, lilac, baby blue or even yellow?

If you've opened a wedding magazine or even visited a few wedding sites to peek at the wedding gowns, you've seen it. You've seen color infused wedding gowns mixed in with the traditional whites and creams. And I say why not? Adding a little color to the wedding gown can definitely put a twist in the wedding theme. While I have yet to attend a wedding where a bride wears a wedding gown in a muted color hue, I would welcome the invite.

I already know you're going to need a few photos so with no delay…

Reem Acra has always included beautiful gowns in the loveliest blues and lilacs and blush hues to a few gowns in each collection.

The most recent Spring collection from Vera Wang has mixed a bit of bold color statements in her already fashion forward designs that are delicate and lovely.

If you're interested in mixing in a little color in more subtle ways Amsale, Romona Keveza and Carolina Herrera may be what is desired.

You could see all these lovely dresses and still think it’s not your thing. You could also be looking at these dresses thinking how much you love them. What’s good about weddings is that in the end it's all about individual style so before you pass over a hint of color in a bridal gown let these few samples of inspiration at least give you an alternate perspective.

In the Details: Faux Bois

>> Monday, October 5, 2009

When you think Fall wedding details do you think Faux Bois? If not you should. Why you ask? It's a fall wedding detail that can fit into a variety of fall-inspired themes. If you're planning a Fall wedding or just day dreaming why not think about including a bit of Faux Bois in your details you'll be surprised how it looks in even a modern or more whimsical wedding. Let's look at some photo inspiration for you to see what I mean.

Why not use these Faux Bois inspired pottery trays as part of your centerpiece at your reception of other decorative details in your wedding. The various colors and whimsical curves of this tray allow it to fit into a variety of themes.

A Faux Bois design in your wedding cake and unexpected and chic way to grab your guest attention.

Or you can go with this oh so lovely Faux Bois inspired dessert table by Amy Atlas.

When these invitations were featured on variety of blogs, I loved how Faux Bois was incorporated into the wedding stationery. My favorite twist has to be the use of the bold purple color.

If you want something that can fit into a more traditional wedding, why not use a Faux Bois favor tag like this one. It’s the perfect mix of traditional style using an unexpected yet creative detail.

As you see incorporating Faux Bois into your wedding details can be easy regardless of how modern or traditional your day will be. While Faux Bois is a great detail for Fall, who says it should be limited to just Fall? Get creative and allow this element to mix into your wedding details no matter what season.

In The Details: Budget Savvy Goodness + Etsy

>> Sunday, September 27, 2009

Let's be honest Weddings aren't cheap. Creating the wedding of your dreams sometimes causes Brides-to-be to think outside their financial box. If you're looking for ways to infuse style without compromising your budget. We all know that weddings aren't weddings without the lovely details so how do you have lovely details for your wedding on a budget? I'm so glad you asked that question. Let me introduce Etsy. Have you visited Etsy? If I know you well your answer is yes so maybe what I share won't be brand new to you but just in case it is, go ahead and make a few bookmarks. You can thank me later ;)

With Fall here and Winter right around the corner, I'm sure many Brides are wondering how to cover up to and shield themselves from the cooler weather elements. Worry not, think about adding a stylish Shrug to your ensemble, these from Holly Stalder are fabulous and budget friendly. Order your own through her etsy shop.

Let's continue our talk of ensembles with Sarah Seven. She's been talked about all over the blogs and her dresses have been featured in Utterly Engaged, but despite all these wonderful mentions her etsy shop is full of lovely fashion goodness for you or your bridesmaids.

Now of course Etsy isn't just for attire, but for wedding decor and stationery too. I love the lovely calligraphy of Emilie Friday her whimsical and fanciful hand lettering would be perfect for Save the Dates or invitation envelopes.

Lets not stop there. If you're looking for creative ways to add flair to your reception decor try these fabulous place cards by Timeless Paper. While we'd all like to have all the wonderful table linens and opulent centerpieces doesn't always fit in the budget, so why not use these to add a bit of unexpected loveliness to your reception.

OK, we've only talked about attire and decor and stationery and already I'm feeling like there's been some money saving. I have a few more links for you to check out.

Looking for ways to add some fun decor elements into your reception space, visit PomLove.

Need a creative cake topper try these from Goose Grease or Lollipop Workshop

Looking for goodies fro your Bridesmaids? I'm still in love with these clutches
or think about a stylish necklace to compliment their dresses like this one from Designs by Krissy.

Now all of the Etsy sellers I featured happen to be some of my favorites. Click on over to Etsy and make your own discoveries, don't be shy money saving is to be had at Etsy and who doesn't like saving money?
