In love with Polka Dots

>> Sunday, August 26, 2007

There's something about polka dots. They're fun, whimsical, playful and oh so stylish. Whether it's for the closet or home, here's why I'm in love with polka dots.

The Spotted Cat Cardigan from J.Crew mixes one of falls hottest colors {yellow} with this dotted animal print.

I love this polka dot Lia Blouse {also from J.Crew I think this year's fall collection from J.Crew is wonderful!}

If I was having lunch with friends or spending the day shopping boutiques I'd wear this big dotted blouse with pants. {oh so cute!}

I just love this polka dot dress its perfect for any social outing.

Add some whimsical style to your table with these Kate Spade larabee dot glasses.

You can also have the plates too!

10 Things I'm Lovin

>> Sunday, August 12, 2007

For this blog there's only one ongoing series that I'm going to do my best to keep up. If you love Domino Magazine like I do then on the last page you've seen the 10 things that various designers, artist etc share about things they love. I did one in July so now that it's August, here's my new top ten things I'm lovin'.

Gum Drop Pillows: I know these things are just adorable and are by Amy Butler Design. They're cute decorative and full of character. If you need a room accent, these are perfect!

Wallpaper: While wallpaper has never really gone out of style. I've noticed more stylish designs from wallpaper companies like wallpaper from the 70s or paper voyer to inspire a girl like me to head to the bathroom and start placing it on my walls.

These dishes… {kate spade dogwood point}I think it's because I'm on the hunt for new plates and these are the ones I love at the moment.

Fall Fashion:I love the new styles and colors that come in every fall. While summer is my fvorite time of the year, this dress by j.crew gets me excited for fall.

This purse from Banana Republic is just what i've been looking for-- a stylish yet functional everyday purse I can use to sling all of my belongings in on a daily basis. Tis purse just might be the one… Ok, maybe this one too.

I had a sample of this delicious fudge from Island Fudge in Hilton Head, SC and couldn't help but have a little bit more. While most people reserve fudge for the holidays, this fudge should not be limited to just one time of the year.

On the work front I'm really liking the idea by Russell+Hazel about a networking binder. Despite it allowing me to organize the business cards I receive it might just make my desk just a little cleaner {or give me more room to put more stuff in that space}

While my sister is truly the photographer of the family, I like to believe I'm good at it too {maybe even better-kidding} but I would love to have this Holga Camera by Lomography. At least I can play like a professional.

When I need to write down ideas, thoughts or information from a meeting or phone conversation I love composition books. Yes, the classic school notebooks. I love them and usually buy them in bulk.

Peek a Boo!

I love a peep toe shoe. Its full of style, sophistication and sexiness. Perfect with skirts or pants these shoes are fabulous. I can't get enough of these shoes. Whats great about this shoe is that it can be worn all year. If you're getting married this fall or attending an event think about a peep-toe shoe to compliment your smashing dress. Here's a few lovely styles.

Hello Sunshine!

>> Tuesday, August 7, 2007

I saw this image on This is Glamorous's blog and just loved the table skirt and seeing this joyful image inspired me to talk about the color yellow. If you didn't know Yellow is not only the hot color of the summer but is making its mark this fall as one of the hot colors of the fashion season. I normally don't jump on bandwangons {ok sometimes i do} this time I have fallen in love with yellow. While yellow isn't a color that was at the top of my color picks, I've changed my mind and created an inspiration board that celebrates this bright, friendly color.

The Stylish Desk

>> Sunday, August 5, 2007

This weekend I watched drones of parents and children descend upon Target and other stores for school supplies. List in hand and baskets filled with paper, pencils, pens, notebooks etc. While I did indulge in color pencils (for work of course), If you're like me, you want your desk to have some style. Plus why not indulge a little and style your desk with some character, fun and style. {image from russell+hazel}

I love cool container to house my pens, pencils etc and these decorative pencil cups have character and style.

Need a new mouse pad? This Thomas Paul Mouse and note pad is fabulous because while you're clicking through websites and visiting blogs there is a ready-made pad of paper to capture your notes to links and sites to visit.

Usually when I need a pad of paper it's never close by, so I've started buying pads in bulk and leaving them practically everywhere. These No. 2 scratch pads are simple,cute and perfect note takers.

I love little organizers that I can keep with me when I'm out shopping and see something I like and want to write down a name, website or price. These accordion organizers are perfect to hold receipts, and little pieces of papers and take note for an impromptu meeting.

Do you make a To Do list? Do you follow it? well maybe if you struggle to keep track of your list of things to do, think about these Russell+Hazel to do post it notes.

Every desk needs a good pen. So why refuse your office of a key necessity. You can still keep your every day pens but these pens to take notes at a key meeting or to keep you festive as you pay bills. These pens are so pretty and come in a variety of styles how can you refuse yourself at least one?

If I'm going to include pens I can't forget about pencils. The Kate Spade favorite solid pencils are lovely and will compliment any desk. If you need to have a desk diversion while your working hard these smencils are perfect. These pencils smell like cherries, bubble gum, cinnamon and more and while we are all grown up every once in a while we need something fun to make those days at the desk be a bit sweeter.

When I was in elementary school, every school supply I could get scented I would and I LOVED it! Well these scented erasers will allow for a little bit of the kid in you to sneak out and go a head and smell them everyone does it!

Now I know Staples, Office Depot and Office Max will do when you need the basics but sometimes we need a little more than basic and these cool supplies make you the envy of everyone.
