In The Details: Add a Little Color

>> Monday, October 19, 2009

Since we're all about showcasing individual style on the PLT blog, it was only a matter of time before I step out and challenge it a bit. What's your thought on casting tradition aside and having a Bride wear a wedding gown in a color that isn't bone, cream, ivory or white but pink, lilac, baby blue or even yellow?

If you've opened a wedding magazine or even visited a few wedding sites to peek at the wedding gowns, you've seen it. You've seen color infused wedding gowns mixed in with the traditional whites and creams. And I say why not? Adding a little color to the wedding gown can definitely put a twist in the wedding theme. While I have yet to attend a wedding where a bride wears a wedding gown in a muted color hue, I would welcome the invite.

I already know you're going to need a few photos so with no delay…

Reem Acra has always included beautiful gowns in the loveliest blues and lilacs and blush hues to a few gowns in each collection.

The most recent Spring collection from Vera Wang has mixed a bit of bold color statements in her already fashion forward designs that are delicate and lovely.

If you're interested in mixing in a little color in more subtle ways Amsale, Romona Keveza and Carolina Herrera may be what is desired.

You could see all these lovely dresses and still think it’s not your thing. You could also be looking at these dresses thinking how much you love them. What’s good about weddings is that in the end it's all about individual style so before you pass over a hint of color in a bridal gown let these few samples of inspiration at least give you an alternate perspective.
