'Tis The Season (part one)

You've survived Black Friday and now it's time to get serious about your Holiday decor. To help Pretty Little Things is interupting the normal featured post to share some Pretty Little Things Holiday Style. Let's start off with some great holiday loveliness.

If you're feeling ambitious this year and are looking to take your Holiday Decor up a notch then you will need this Ultimate Gingerbread House.

Or, you can stick with the effortlessly easy No Bake Winter Wonderland Gingerbread Kit

One of my favorite websites is Cox and Cox and I just love their holiday goodies this year.

Paper Angel Name Places

3D Holiday Cookie Cutters

My favorite has to be these Colour-in Christmas Cards perfect for your inner artiste or a great way to get kids involved by having them to add their creativity to the holiday cards this year.

Are you thinking about how you can make these yourself? I was too. Let me get you started with paper from here, a few outline fonts like this or this and this a printer and some colored pencils and you're set.

If you're still deciding on a holiday theme for your tree, these darling ornaments would be so lovely for any tree.

Little Una Ornament

Little Ella Ornament

Find a little inspiration in this or any of these.

I just fell in love with these taper holders and while I usually don't decorate much with candles I may be inspired to start.

Gingerbread Man Tiny Taper Holders

Elf Candle Holder

Ok, we can go on for days talking about holiday inspired decor. Of course we can't stop with just these lovely little things we've got plenty of holiday goodness to share in the coming weeks.

In the Details: Have a Seat

>> Monday, November 23, 2009

In any wedding, there are a select group of details that I love to see and one of them is a table of escort cards or a seating chart. When I don't see anything directing guest to their seats, I know it's going to be a long night. Why you ask? Well I've been to a wedding or two where there wasn't a seating chart or escort cards and from there you witness uncomfortable conversations with guest to switch seats so important family members have a prime seat and aren't stuck in the back of the room.

Who wants to be in the middle of that situation? No one, so why not have a seating chart or escort card. If you're searching for ideas and inspiration, you've come to the right place.

Play on your theme and incorporate it into your escort cards.

Map it out. Keep it simple and create a map that directs guest to their table and seat.

You can also incorporate your invitation design to create a lovely seating chart like this one from Gourmet Invitations.

Keep it traditional with a simple card and lovely calligraphy.

Add a twist, by mixing modern and traditional styles for unique escort cards.

Be creative. Use photos of yourselves at each age that represents a table number like this photo below.

You can also use the city you live in or places you've traveled to show guest to their seat.

Make your escort card the wedding favor and cross two items off your to-do list.

I know on top of all the other details that make up a fabulous wedding this is one more to add on the list but it's well worth it and will make for a great reception and another lovely detail for your guest to remember.

Friday Faves

>> Friday, November 20, 2009

Hello and happy Friday to you. This week I have no theme but who needs one if I have lovely things to share. Get your wish list out there's a few things I'm sure you will want to add.

I think these cast metal animal bookends add just the right amount of whimsy.

There's really no cool way to transition from whimsical book ends to my truly favorite thing, bags so I'm not even going to try. Just look at this little lovely. Have you started falling in love? It's OK I am too.

**unfortunately, it's already sold out, but there are plenty of lovely alternatives like this one.

We've all had those moments where a pair of fabulous shoes has cause us plenty of pain. Or is that just me? Well, when I saw these I thought how wonderful would it be to have a pair of these ballet flats in my bag for such a shoe emergency. The only problem is settling on a color.

Did you add anything to your wish list? I hope so, but if not maybe next week. Until then, have a wonderful weekend.

In the Details: Don't Forget the Rings

>> Monday, November 16, 2009

Lovely ring pillows are the detail of interest this week. Sure you can go for the traditional white, satin or lace pillow but I don't think that's who you are. You want something different, maybe colorful, a little modern and of course something that will stand out.

Let's share photos first and talk details later.

Simply modern are the pillows from Bklyn Pillow.

Whimsical and full of eye candy are these pillows from Llubav.

What I love most is learning about the creative process that goes into creating these fantastic pillows and you can learn more about them too here.

These pillows from 5eizen give a twist to the traditional. Bold blooms can definitely make a statement.

If you're looking to find details that fit into your vintage themed wedding the pillows created by EvieS have a mix of vintage style and lovely hand-crafted details perfect for a home-spun or vintage inspired wedding.

Maybe a pillow isn't your style and you want something different. If that's the case I'm sure you've heard, seen or read about Paloma's Nest and their lovely Ring Bearer Bowls. If you haven't, well let me introduce you.

If you would like to do a little DIY here are some great ring pillow projects:

Linen Ring Pillow

Silk Flower Ring Pillow

Layered Organza Ring Pillow

Ribbon Ring Pillow

With all the details that a Bride has to think about it's easy for the ring pillow to be missed or thought about at the last minute. Maybe this post will inspire you to move this up on your list of details to tackle so it isn't forgotten.
