Friday Faves

>> Friday, July 31, 2009

This weeks Friday Faves is all about the little things I've seen that I'm lovin'.

These lovely blooms from Emersonmade make perfect accessories or as gifts and even as table decor with some candles for a impromptu dinner party.

Add some unexpected decor to your home by saying it with words. Add one of these custom recycled wooden signs from William Dohman's shop.

If you love making list as much as I do, who says you should write them on random pieces of paper, old recipts or whatever else you can find. Use this Kate Spade Notepad to keep track of your list. Plus, it's a bright cheerful yellow.

What would a Friday Faves be without sharing a pretty little items like this Lacy Grove Canister from Anthropologie. I'm all about updating your space by using little items especially if you are watching your budget.

If you love this canister, I think you will like this and this too.

That's it for this Friday. Since I'm all about the pretty little things I'll be searching for more loveliness to share next Friday. Happy Friday Everyone!

DIY Ambition

>> Thursday, July 30, 2009

I've had this picture in my idea file for some time and I've been thinking I could do stripes in my own bathroom. The crafty girl inside of me believes we can do this. She's ambitions and fearless but sometimes her eyes are bigger than her abilities. Seeing this picture recently has me thinking maybe just maybe.

Inspiration: Prim and Proper

I'm defintely a fan of Kate Spade advertisements included. I have had this photo for a while and have kept coming back to it. Finally I'm inspired to share all things prim and proper. Plus with fall around the corner, who doesn't need a new suit or inspiration on updating that little black number that is a go to in your closet.

Nothing says taking Day into Night like this Stretch Wool Rose Shift Dress

or maybe this Super 120s Carlyle dress

One thing I love about a black suit is with the right accessories you could wear it anywhere. This Lightweight wool suit is a perfect example.

Add your own twist to casual Friday's with this demim pencil skirt and cashmere sweater combination.

Yes, I know why on earth talk about Fall when in most states its blazing hot. Well someone has to do it so while you enjoy the bliss of Summer I don't mind being the one to think about Fall.

There are days I want to be so upset with J.Crew because they create items like this

Silk Frances Cami

Wool Ruffle-Front Coat

Gilded Daisy Ring

because it leave me making irrational negotiations with myself and my bank account.

In The Details- The Headpiece

>> Monday, July 27, 2009

Not every Bride envisions her bridal look to include a long sweeping veil. That's where the headpiece comes in.

Whether you choose a birdcage veil or just a headpiece. Go ahead and make your statement who says you have to do it like everyone else. Plus, what isn't fabulous about a headpiece? Maybe you need a bit more convincing...

This striking headpiece by Jennifer Behr happens to be one of my favorites and it's the perfect mix of statement maker and tradition.

Ok, maybe you want something that compliments your veil, then why not think about something like this floral headpiece that you can wear with or without a veil.

I love all the creations by Twig and Honey, creative and full of flair if you are searching for bold color in your head piece this may be right up your alley.

If a head piece isn't what you're looking for think about a headband like this one also from Twigs and Honey.

or this Vintage Broach Style

Maybe you wish for a head piece with a little Whimsy. This headpiece by Oh My Deer is perfect.

When I think style and whimsy I always go to the lovely items from ban.do.

I have to say that I love when a Bride's look completely showcases her personality and this is one detail that I think sometimes Brides save to the last detail instead of making it one of the first things they think about after the dress of course. Whether you are in search of a sweeping veil, or headpiece, whatever you choose make it all about you.

How can you not fall in love with ruffles when they look like this?

Do you miss Domino Magazine like I do? Well this room has always been a favorite of mine and when I look through my Domino file on my laptop I can't help but miss this magazine.

While I may be sad about Domino, I'm excited and eagerly awaiting Lonny.

Next is a sampling of what will be featured on Monday for the In The Details segment. I saw these head pieces featured over at Always a Blogsmaid and swooned. How lovely are these? Find more styles here.

Last but definitely not least is the oh so wonderful E-Zine of Utterly Engaged. If you haven't checked this out please do. Whether you are a bride to be, friend of bride, or just daydreaming this 2nd issue is full of inspiration and loveliness.

>> Thursday, July 23, 2009

There are those items you see in stores or websites that you love and you don't know why. Those cute items you try to make function in your home somehow. These items, while maybe functional are definitely cute and well... sometimes you need something cute.

Picnic Condiment Caddy

King of the Jungle Jar

Puffer Bird Measuring Cups

Fish Salt and Pepper Shaker by Jonathan Adler

Johnathan Adler Place Card holders

Not everything in your home has to be grown up and serious, sometimes fun little items like these add character and make great conversation starters. Plus I think those Puffer Bird Measuring Cups will definitely make cooking anything a lot more fun.

I love this photo from Vogue Magazine it's playful, fun and girly. Inspired I did my search for lovely items that I felt let you express that inner girly girl without going too far.

But first, this Marchesa Dress from the Pre Fall 2009 collection is so lovely.

This dress may be a bit too much for some, but something about this dress is so fun and pretty to me.

Ok so back to our search for lovely girly finds like this Bold Boutonniere Dress

or this Terasina Dress

Bold Baubles

>> Tuesday, July 21, 2009

When I see lovely baubles like this I wish I can pull this type of ring off. Even if it doesn't work for me {believe me, I've tried and so wish it did} that won't stop me from sharing these bold baubles with you.

I love statement makers (as you know if you've been reading) so these lovely rings are no different. If I could wear a bold bauble myself these would some of the few I'd pick out.

Tea Party Ring-I know this ring is probably well-suited for a tea party but don't limit its loveliness just for tea parties.

Need a subtle statement maker try this Cluster Ring from J. Crew

I couldn't turn away from this lovely lady marmalade mushroom ring by Kate Spade

I think it's obvious I could share plenty more bold baubles with you but I'll let this be your inspiration to help you find your own bold baubles.

In the Details: Short and Sweet

>> Monday, July 20, 2009

You see that dress? It is by far one of my favorite Oscar De Larenta dresses, even today when I see this picture I still swoon over it. Now of course when some think of wedding dresses they may envision something lovely like this from Vera Wang.

This dress is beautiful but a lady should always have options and I'm so happy the short wedding dress hasn't become some faded trend. If you're looking to add your own twist to your wedding day think about something short and sweet. Now just because you select a short wedding dress doesn't mean you compromise style or tradition. Check out some of my favorite dresses and see for yourself.

Oscar De La Renta

Monique Lhuillier

Melissa Sweet

Amsale

No matter your style or how tradtional, modern or casual your day will be a dress that is short and sweet dresses will fit into your special day perfectly.
